Biographical Information: Lloyd was born and raised in Ogilville, Indiana. After graduation from Columbus High School, Lloyd went on to receive his Bachelor's Degree from Central Normal College in 1942 and eventually completed his Master's Degree at Butler University in 1950. From July of 1942 to November of 1945, Lloyd served in the U.S. Army (T/5 Military Police), including stints in Hawaii, Guadalcanal, the Philippines, and Korea. Once he'd returned home from World War II, in the spring of 1946, he married Thelma Barnes, whom he'd met while at Central Normal. The next fall, he began his career in education as a teacher at Clayton High School, moving to Danville High School in 1948 as principal, to Lizton in 1951 as principal, and to Hope in 1954, first as Hauser principal and then as superintendent of Flatrock Hawcreek School Corporation. Lloyd returned to the classroom in 1961 as a Latin and social studies teacher at Twin Lakes High School, but eventually went back into administration as junior high assistant principal and then principal of Oaklawn Elementary School. He retired from Twin Lakes in 1985. A long-time member of the Monticello Christian Church of Monticello, Indiana, Lloyd served as a Sunday School Teacher, Elder, Board Member and Board Chairman throughout the years. He was also a member of the American Legion, Thornton Williams Post #81 of Monticello, Indiana, the Sigma Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity, and the Indiana Woodland Stewards.
Special Services: Full Millitary Rites will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home to start the celebration of life service by the local Honor Guard of the Monticello American Legion, Amvets, and V.F.W.
Memorial Information: May be given to the Monticello Christian Church of Monticello, Indiana. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Marriage Information: On May 19, 1946 in Garrett, Indiana, he married the love of his life of 66 years, Thelma H. Barnes. She survives.
