Mary Ellen J. Provo, 89, of Wolcott, passed away peacefully at 6:55 AM, Monday, January 22, 2018 at George Ade Memorial of Brook, IN.

She was born January 10, 1929 in Hammond, IN to the late Roy and Amanda (Winters) Lowry. She was a graduate of Goodland High School. Her marriage was to Harold Eugene Provo on February 6, 1956 in St. Joseph Catholic Church of Kentland. He preceded her in death in 1978.

Mary Ellen was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Remington, American Legion Womens Auxiliary, and VFW Womens Auxiliary both of Lafayette.

She enjoyed spending her time baking, cooking, gardening, maintaining the yard, and time spent with family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Michael Provo of Wolcott; grandchildren, Seth (Kelli) Provo of Wolcott, Meghan (Scott) Stadt of Columbus, OH, and Amanda (Ryan) Buckley of Nelsonville, OH and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Jeane (Howard) Pitstick of Kentland, and Ramona Austin of Fowler.

Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband are 3 brothers and 1 sister.

Friends may call from 11 AM (EST) until the time of Funeral Mass 1 PM (EST) Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Remington. Fr. Paul Hudson to officiate. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made in Mary Ellen’s name to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
