Sandford “Sandy” Fields, 75, of Goodland, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital of Indianapolis.

He was born on June 24, 1942 in Dante, VA to the late Charlie Fields and Audrey (Collins) Alderson. Sandy had strong Christian values and attended different churches over the years.

Sandy worked in the Virginia Coal Mines for several years and also worked for US Steel Mill in northern Indiana. He loved spending time with his dogs and rabbit hunting with them. He also enjoyed watching westerns on TV, spending time with his best friend and fiancé Linda Lambert, and playing his guitar.

Surviving are children, Audrey (Terry) Thomas of Roscoe, IL, Renee Jarrett of Malvern, AR, Sandy Wayne (Missy) Fields of Copper Creek, VA, Kenneth (Angela) Speed Jr. of Huntingburg, IN, and Tiffany (Steven) Cunningham of Evansville, IN; brother, Charlie (Pat) Fields of Parr, IN; grandchildren, Jaclyn, Joshua, Samantha, Valerie, Kameron, Kaleb, Kalvin, Abbey, Willow, and Kylee; great-grandchildren, Reece, Jayce, and Remington. Also surviving are several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Preceding him in death along with his parents is a fiancé, Linda Lambert and infant daughter, Misty Fields.

Friends may call from 10 AM (EST) until the time of funeral service 11 AM (EST) Monday, December 11, 2017 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington. Interment to follow in Goodland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Sandy’s name to the family for a charitable donation at a later date.
