Richard D. Sanbloom, 78, of Brookston, passed away at 1:32 PM, September 9, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center of Fort Wayne.

He was born February 28, 1939 in Carroll County, IN to the late Ernest and Opal (Christopher) Sanbloom. His parents raised wonderful children. Dick never had a spanking and in return never raised a hand to his children or anyone else.

Dick attended 1 room school houses of Good Hope and Springdale. Dick went on to graduate from Chalmers High School in 1957. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force Reserves.

His marriage was to Donna R. Singley on September 22, 1962 in Mason City, IL, she survives.

Dick was a member of Badger Grove Community Baptist Church and American Legion Post # 268 of Chalmers.

Dick started farming with his father at a young age and continued to do so on his own for 45 years until he retired. One of his happiest days on the farm was watching the milk cow herd leaving their farm for good! After retiring from farming, he began his new career of golf, playing often as his final day was spent on the golf course.

He enjoyed spending his time working on the yard, golfing, and time spent with his grandchildren. Being a husband, father, and grandfather brought him the most happiness.

Surviving along with his wife are children, Rae J. (husband: Greg) Andelin of Fishers, IN, and Bradley D. Sanbloom of Lafayette; grandchildren, Taylor Andelin 11 years old, and Logan Andelin 8 years old; siblings, Robert (wife: Joan) Sanbloom of West Lafayette, and Shirley (husband: Dave) Kesler of Brookston. Also surviving are brother’s and sister’s-in-law, Delberta Hapke of Pekin, IL, Rick Singley of Mason City, IL, Janet Henricks of Pekin, IL, Robert Singley of Mason City, IL, Marva Fonseca of San Francisco, CA, and Terri Knoll of Denver, IL. Dick was greatly respected and admired and will be missed by his Illinois family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Opal Sanbloom.

Friends may call from 12 PM (EST) until the time of Funeral Service 2 PM (EST) Wednesday September 13, 2017 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Rev. Dr. Lelan McReynolds to officiate. Interment to follow in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens of West Lafayette.
