Ruth L. Brookshire, 95, of Chalmers, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at her residence in Chalmers. Born to the late Charles and Margaret Warner on June 9, 1922, she was a lifelong resident of Chalmers. Ruth was a graduate of Chalmers High School.

Her marriage was to Robert C. Brookshire who died in 1986. They had two children, Steven W. Brookshire (deceased) of Portland, OR (wife: Sally), and Bradley C. Brookshire of Chalmers, IN.

She was a lifetime bookkeeper for the family trucking business, Brookshire Motor Express and Brookshire Farm Service and Supply, homemaker, animal lover, and she was also the town babysitter for everyone’s children in Chalmers.

Ruth was a member of the Chalmers Community Church, Chalmers Civic Club, and several years as a member of Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority.

She is also survived by two granddaughters, Tara (Rob) Fuller, Amber (Ben) Christiansen of Portland, OR; William A. Downs of Mansfield, OH, and 4 great-grandchildren. Best friend, Sharon Clerget of Chalmers, and her 3 daughters, Amy, Angie, Allison.

Preceding her in death with her parents is one brother and son, Steven.

A graveside service open to the public will be held at 11 AM (EST), Monday, August 7, 2017 at Chalmers Cemetery. Pastor Bill Henderson to officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ruth’s name to the Chalmers Community Church or Chalmers Civic Club.
