Arvel P. Ragan, 85, of Kentland, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital of Urbana, IL.

He was born September 11, 1931 in Parkin, AR to the late Aaron P. and Bertha (Kannell) Ragan.

His marriage was to Bobbie Jean Elliott on September 16, 1953. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2010.

Arvel was a metal fabricator for 36 years with the Iron Workers Union until his retirement.

He is survived by his children, Jerry (Melia) Ragan, Tim (Tammy) Ragan, Eddie (Jeannette) Ragan, Brenda Edwards, and Sherry. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 PM (CST) until the time of Funeral Service 6 PM (CST) Thursday, March 23, 2017 at First Apostolic Church of Sheldon, IL. Rev. Ron Childress to officiate. Interment will be held at 11 AM (CST) Friday, March 24, 2017 at Maplewood Memorial Cemetery of Crown Point, IN.
