John S. Flinn, 67, of Remington, passed away at 2:28 AM, Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on September 19, 1949 to the late Noble C. and Bessie (Popp) Flinn. He graduated from Rensselaer High School in 1967.

He married Dian Hancock on March 17, 1973 at the First Christian Church of Remington, she survives.

 Mr. Flinn was the Remington Street Superintendent for the past 15 years. Prior to that he worked for Lafayette Pharmaceutical and Griffith Foods. John enjoyed watching Indiana University mens basketball, LSU football, camping, fishing and gardening.   He loved spending time with his family and took great pride watching his children and grandchildren compete in sports.

Surviving with his wife are his children, Tim (Leslie) Flinn of Remington, Jaime (Neil) Porter of Denham Springs, LA, Brad (Ryanne) Flinn of Remington; his grandchildren, Alexis Porter, Kobie Whittaker, Neil Porter Jr., Jacob Flinn, Connor Croghan, Riley Flinn, and Lizzy Porter; and two sisters, Nancy Gembala and Sharon (Phil) Lewis both of Rensselaer.

Preceding him in death along with his parents was a son Jeff Flinn and a brother David Flinn.

Friends may call from 4-8 PM (EST) Thursday, March 9, 2017 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington. Funeral service Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM (EST) also at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home. Private interment is planned.

Memorials may be made in his name to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
