James "Danny" (Mason) DeVault, 66, of Monon, passed away at 1:30 PM, December 26, 2016 at Indiana Veterans Home of West Lafayette. He was born January 19, 1950 in Fort Wayne, IN to the late Jack A. Mason and Betty (VanVoorst) DeVault. He was a 1969 graduate of North White High School.

 

James served in the United States Navy being honorably discharged on April 15, 1974.

His marriage was to Melynie Stangle on December 26, 1970 in Monon, IN. She preceded him in death on September 6, 2011.

James was a member of the AMVETS and Monon Community Church.

He farmed for several years and was employed at Howard Implement of Monticello. James enjoyed spending his time hunting, working on cars, computers, hanging out with the guys at the campground, and was an avid reader.

 

Surviving are his children, Kelsey Griffey, Kari Mason, Jessica Rowland, and Jesse (Carissa) Mason; brother, Everett "Lee" (Susan) DeVault. He is also survived by a niece, Selena DeVault and 9 grandchildren.

 

Preceding him in death along with his mother and wife are 2 grandchildren, Abigail Rowland, a sister, Darlene Mason, and his adopted father, Grant DeVault.

 

Friends may call from 5 PM until the time of Memorial Service at 7 PM (EST) Friday, December 30, 2016 at Monon Community Church. Pastor Don Newman to officiate. Inurnment to follow in Bedford Cemetery at a later date.

 

Memorial donations may be made in James name to the Indiana Veterans Home Library or the Monon Community Church.
