Betty L. Byroad, 86, of Monon, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 7:21 AM, Tuesday November 22, 2016 at her daughters home in Carmel. She was born January 1, 1930 in Chalmers, IN to the late Lloyd and Ruth (Naugle) Shoemaker. She was a 1949 graduate of Chalmers High School.

Her marriage was to Charles L. Byroad on March 5, 1949 in Wolcott, IN. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1996.

Betty was a faithful member at Faith Christian Tabernacle of Rensselaer, IN. She worked at Dwyer Instruments until her retirement in 2010. Betty enjoyed spending her time doing word searches, going out to restaurants, working in the yard, talking on the phone with her friends, and most of all, spending time with family.

Surviving are children, Diane (Dale) Hughes of Monon, IN, Carol (Bill) Weghorst of Carmel, IN, and Leon (Gina) Byroad of Medaryville, IN; siblings, Paul (Phyllis) Shomaker of Chalmers, and Mary Ann Cornett of Otterbein, IN. Also surviving are grandchildren, Dustin, Stephanie, Mark, Matt, and Kelsey; great-grandchildren, Kody, Ethan, Elizabeth, Lydia, Tyler, Lakota, Kyleigh, Ely, Caidance, Kate, Rhen, and Hunter.

Preceding her in death along with her parents and husband are siblings, Florence Payne, Margaret Conkright, Perry Shoemaker, Eileen Parks, and Kenneth Shoemaker. Betty is also preceded in death by a grandson, Jerry, and a great-granddaughter, Maggie.

Friends may call from 4-8 PM (EST) Monday November 28, 2016 at Clapper Family Funeral Home of Monon. Funeral Service at 11 AM (EST) Tuesday November 29, 2016 also at Clapper Family Funeral Home. Dr. Jim Blanchard of Faith Christian Tabernacle to officiate. Interment to follow in Bedford Cemetery, Monon, IN.
