Matthew K. “Matt” Glebe Sr., 52, of West Lafayette formerly of Chalmers, passed away at 3:12 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

   He was born March 25, 1964 to the late Wayne A. and Helen L. (Simcox) Glebe.

He was married to Kari L. Jenkins on June 3, 1989 in Hebron, Indiana; she survives.

Matt worked in maintenance at Purdue University in McCutcheon Hall for 11 years. He enjoyed the interaction with the students and developed many lasting friendships with them, often helping them work on their cars for Grand Prix.

Prior to working for Purdue he worked in general construction, pouring concrete and framing houses for over 20 years.

Matt was an avid NASCAR fan of Mark Martin and Kevin Harvick. He was a true motor head that loved working on vehicles, especially his big red truck Clifford. Some of his favorite memories were traveling with his wife and children on their bucket list of destinations including San Francisco, Mt. Rushmore, Niagra Falls, New York and the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame.

   Surviving with his wife are their children, Matthew K. Glebe Jr. of Chalmers, Morganne L. Glebe of Rensselaer, Mark A. Glebe (Karinne) of Brookston and Mitchell P. Glebe (Kayla) of Chalmers. Matt loved spending time with his special little buddy Wade Austin Herron and his granddaughter, Chloe Rae Glebe.

Also surviving are his siblings, Michael Glebe (Mary Jane) of Columbus, GA, Marsha Jerdon (Steve) of St. Petersburg, FL, Melissa Crisp of St. Petersburg, FL, Dee Holland (Michael) of Matthews, NC and Melinda J. Steffny of St. Petersburg, FL.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at St. James Lutheran Church in the fellowship hall. Funeral service there 10 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2016 also at the church; Pastor David French to officiate. Interment to follow in Chalmers Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Matt Glebe memorial fund to be used for a local later good.
