Ruth E. Ferguson, 86, of Monon passed away at 8:45 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 in her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born May 6, 1930 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late Lawrence and Mary (Redoutey) LeBrun.

Her marriage of 62 years was to Grover “Fergie” Ferguson Sr. on June 29, 1949 in Greenup, Kentucky; he died May 2, 2013.

Mrs. Ferguson was a proud homemaker raising their five children while Fergie worked at Inland Steel.

Ruth was well known for her baked goods, including donuts and cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed being outdoors and sitting by a campfire. She had a beautiful, loving personality and was always welcoming and kind to others.

Surviving are daughters, Carmen Erickson (Ed) of Valparaiso, Sue Beiswanger of Monon and Judy Burgess (Bruce) of Monticello; a son, Richard Ferguson (Lauren) of Hebron, IN and a sister, JoAnn Earwood of Greenup, KY. Ruth loved spending time with her family, especially her 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-granddaughters. The grandkids will forever remember her care in making them the best ice cream cones.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Grover Ferguson Jr. and numerous brothers and sisters.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Clapper Family Funeral Home of Monon. A private family service is planned for Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. David Rasner to officiate. Burial to follow in Bedford Cemetery, Monon.
