Howard M. “Merv” Ferguson, 89, of Kentland, passed away at 8:40 AM, June 23, 2016 at Riverside Medical Center of Kankakee, IL.

He was born February 28, 1927 in Spencer County, IN to the late George and Kate (Vaughn) Ferguson. He was a 1945 graduate of Kentland High School. Merv served in the United States Navy from 1945-1946.

He married Vivian Dawson on April 27, 1946 in Morocco, IN. Merv, along with his wife, was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Kentland. He worked for many years farming and managing grain elevators.

Merv enjoyed following Indiana University sports, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, and following family sporting events.

Surviving along with his wife are children, Ed Ferguson of Alexandria, VA, Brenda (Bob) Hendry of Munster, IN; grandchildren, Eric Ferguson and Kelly (John) Fitzgerald; great-grandchildren, Colton and Vivian Fitzgerald.

Preceding him in death along with his parents was a brother, Lyman Ferguson.

Friends may call from 4-8 PM (CST) Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church of Kentland (2775 W 1500 S, Kentland, IN 47951). Funeral Service at 11 AM (CST) Wednesday June 29, 2016 also at Trinity United Methodist Church. Pastor Ed vanWijk will officiate. Interment to follow in Fairlawn Cemetery.
