Paul R. "Bill" Helterbran, 87, of Earl Park, passed away at 10:45 AM, April 20, 2016 at his residence.

He was born April 27, 1928 in Danville, IL to the late Manie A. and Mary Louise (Dunn) Helterbran. He graduated from Freeland Park, IN High School. Bill served in the United States Air Force.  His marriage was to Wanda K. Robey on February 17, 1961 in Morocco, IN. She Survives. He was a resident of Earl Park for 55 years.

Bill was a member of the Earl Park American Legion Post 455, VFW of Fowler, past Master of the Masonic Lodge of Earl Park, Past Patron of Order of Eastern Star, and was Chief and volunteer for the Earl Park/Richland Twp. Fire Dept. He was also very active in the Earl Park Fall Festival Committee.

Bill was a finish carpenter, served as Benton County Surveyor for two terms, and drove for Benton Community Schools Bus # 13. In his later years, Bill worked with his wife in wood crafting.

Surviving along with his wife are children, Carla (Ronald) Royer of Florida, Kimberley Sue Helterbran of Rossville, IN, Christine Helterbran of Lafayette, IN, Doug Helterbran of Otterbein, IN, Wendy Helterbran of New Albany, IN,  and Lori Cardinal of Sullivan, IN; grandchildren, Bret, Brad, Dallas, Lindsey, Heather, Dustin, Alfonso, Nicholas, Chad, and Kaylee. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Max, Alexus, Dallas, Jaidyn, Jenna, Brodryck, Keaton, Zane, Treyton, Lilly, and Mia; great-great-granddaughter, Briella.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and a grandson, Bryan.  

Graveside services will be held Monday, April 25, 2016, 12:00 PM at Earl Park Cemetery. Pastor Will Braniff to officiate.
