Mikel Stewart Grant, 24, of Brookston, passed away at 9:06 a.m. Sunday, April 10, 2016 in Lafayette.

He was born June 13, 1991 in Lafayette to Brian R. and Betty "B.J." (Stinnett) Grant and was a 2010 graduate of Frontier High School. He had additional schooling in automotive from Ivy Tech and training to run a brake press.

Mikel worked for Oscar Winski since graduating high school and among other things setup and ran the brake press and worked shipping and receiving. He was proud to call many of his coworkers friends.

His marriage was to Lela Faye Polley on September 28, 2014 in Lafayette; she survives.

A quiet person with a kind soul, Mikel was always accepting of others and was never one to pass judgment. He was very detail oriented in everything he did, especially his tattoo's. He loved detailing his car and enjoyed his time with his brother and the Dirty Money racing family in Reynolds.

Surviving with his parents is his brother Vince Grant; his paternal grandparents, Ron and Merle Dalton of Milton, Ontario and his maternal grandparents, Hurlie and Nancy Stinnett of Brookston.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. Funeral service there 11 a.m. Friday, April 15, 2016. Interment services will be private at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Mikel Grant memorial fund to be used to "pay it forward" as the need arises.
