Genevieve "Genny" Bulington, 75, and longtime resident of Monon, passed away at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born November 21, 1939 in Tippecanoe County, Indiana to the late Anthony and Leona (Hardebeck) Scherer and was a graduate of Monon High School. Her marriage of 50 years was to Maurice G. Bulington on May 4, 1963 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds; he died July 9, 2013. Mrs. Bulington was a past member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Reynolds and later attended Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Monticello. She was also a past member of the Monon Volunteer Fire Department ladies auxiliary. Genny was a homemaker and also worked as secretary at the Dick McElroy Insurance Agency, which her husband eventually purchased and ran until retiring in 2001. She loved to spend time with her family, play cards and evenings out with her husband. Surviving are two children, Renee Herre (husband: Brian) of Rensselaer and Randy Bulington of Monon; two grandchildren, Trenton and Megan Herre and a brother, Bill Scherer of Monon. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Clapper Family Funeral Home of Monon; Rev. Benjamin Hertel to officiate. Interment to follow in Osborne Cemetery in Jasper County. Memorials may be made in her name to the American Heart Association or Guardian Angel Hospice.
