Anthony (Tony) J. Ropp, 81, of Kentland, Indiana passed away April 6, 2015 at 9:45 a.m. Monday, April 6, 2015 at Whispering Pines Nursing Home of Monticello. He was born January 7, 1934 in Goodland, IN to Anthony Joseph and Daisy E. Christenson Ropp. In 1959 he married Geraldine Dallman, they later divorced. On September 1, 1963 he married Juanita Marie Myers in Kentland. She preceded him in death on January 16, 2003. Tony was a member of the Covenant Federated Church in Kentland where he served as an elder. He served in the US Army for two years. Tony was a meat cutter by trade for many years at Murphy's Food Corner of Kentland and also in Watseka, IL. Tony was also employed by Capitol Products Corporation in Kentland for 15 years. He enjoyed gardening and later did lawn care in the Kentland area. He loved watching high school athletic events and sporting events on television. Tony also enjoyed playing euchre with friends. Surviving are daughters; Donna Ropp of Dixon, IL; Victoria Monroe-George of Phoenix, AZ; and stepdaughter Deborah Ann Henady Korba of Lafayette, IN; Granddaughters Holley Donahoe, Telina Helvey, Maria Nelson, Jessica Woodruff and Chelsea Monroe; grandsons Jacob Eckman, Joseph Eckman, Brent Henady, and Cole Woodruff; great-grandson Clayton Nelson; great-granddaughter Stephanie Nelson. Also surviving are sisters Phyllis Jeanne (Donald) Harmon of Goodland, IN; Loma Deno of Remington, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Juanita; daughter Brenda Woodruff; sisters Beverly Good, and Joyce DeWees; infant brother Arnold Ropp; and brother Gerald Ropp. Friends may call Thursday April 9, 2015 from 10 a.m. (CST) until the time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. (CST) at the Covenant Federated Church of Kentland; Rev. Wayne Meyers to officiate. Interment to follow in Goodland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given in Tony's name to The Hospice Group.
