Randy Hood, 52, of Goodland, passed away unexpectedly while at work Friday, February 13, 2015. He was born July 27, 1962 to the late James D. Hood and Dallie (Caudill) Hood who still survives. He was a 1980 graduate of South Newton High School. His marriage was to Belinda Hammersley on September 11, 1981 in the First Christian Church of Brook; she survives. Randy worked for Rose Acres for over 29 years and was involved in the oversight/maintenance of the chicken houses. He was a longtime member of the First Christian Church of Brook. Randy was a loving husband and father and was an extremely dedicated, hard worker providing for his family which was the most important thing to him. He also enjoyed NASCAR, especially Jimmy Johnson, the Chicago Bears and loved the Colts. Surviving with his wife and mother are his children, Jeremy (Kelli) Hood of West Lafayette, Travis (Deborah) Hood of Aarburg, Switzerland, Trenton Hood of Goodland, Justin Hood of San Diego, CA and Heather Hood of Goodland; and his siblings, Tim (Jamie) Hood of Kentland, Angie (Tim) Goodwin of Lafayette, Bob Hood of Swannington, IN and Steve Hood of Boswell. Randy loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Tristen, Chelsey, Haydn, Haley and Landon. Preceding him in death with his father is a sister, Cindy Schroeder. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. (CST) Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland. Funeral service 11 a.m. (CST) Friday, February 20, 2015 also at the funeral home. Interment to follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Kentland. Memorials may be made to the Randy Hood Memorial Fund to be used for good in his name.
