Annabelle Wirtz Burton, 93, of Watseka IL, formerly of Kentland and Lafayette, passed away at 11:29 pm, December 17, 2014 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital of Watseka, IL. She was born December 3, 1921 in Fowler, IN to Alphonse and Flora (Besse) Sarault. She attended Wadena School and graduated from Fowler High School. Her marriage was to Arthur "Art" J. Writz on August 21, 1941 in Fowler and he preceded her in death on October 28, 1978. Annabelle then married Glen Burton of Kentland on November 21, 1979 in Fowler and he preceded her in death on November 9, 1998. She was a bookkeeper/secretary for Dormeyer Industries of Kentland or 13 1/2 years. She also worked for Plunkett Tool and Die, and was the Water Department Clerk for 12 1/2 years for the Town of Kentland and retired from the Kentland Town. Annabelle was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 67 years and enjoyed sewing, crocheting clothing and dressing dolls. She was a wonderful Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma and will be missed. She is survived by her son, Larry Wirtz (wife: Judy) of Kentland; her grandson, Jamie Wirtz (wife: Meagan) of Kentland; and her great-grandchildren, Hunter, Jordan, Cooper, and soon to be born, Maci. Annabelle is also survived by her sister-in-law, Wanda Pence of Clarksville; a Special Sister Friend, Iona Loro of Lafayette; step-children, Sharon Burton Lipp (husband: Denny) of Frankfort, Mike Burton (wife: Carolyn) of Murfreesboro, TN, and Steve Burton (wife: Janet) of Kentland; step-grandchildren, Dawn, Denise, and Sarah Lipp, and Melissa Burton; two step-great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death are her parents, husbands and her son, Randy Wirtz; three sisters, Doris Jean Sarault, Marcella (Sarault) Van Gundy, and Stella Sarault; and seven brothers, Willard, Wilfred, Leonard, Clifford, Howard, Melvin, and Richard Sarault. Friends may call from 4-7 pm (CST) with a Rosary Service at 3:45 pm (CST), Monday, December 22, 2014 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 am (CST), Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Kentland with Fr. Robert Bernotas officiating.
