Lois M. Lowry, 77, of Lafayette, went to her heavenly home surrounded by her loving family, at 1:28 am, Thursday, July 17, 2014 at St. Elizabeth East of Lafayette. She was born December 9, 1936 in Rensselaer to Hiram and Loretta (Hancock) Alberts and attended Rensselaer schools. Her marriage was to Donald E. Jordan on May 31, 1952 in Rensselaer and he preceded her in death in June of 1991. Lois worked as a cook at a daycare for many years and really enjoyed being a caregiver in her later years. She loved crocheting, dancing at the VFW, traveling, and was interested in history and genealogy. Her absolute favorite was macramé. She is survived by her children, Paul Jordan, Marie Findakly, Barbara Coddington, Sarah Barrick, Crystal Beaver, and Bryan Jordan, all of Lafayette; 14 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Betty Gadson of Warsaw, June Osborne of Arizona, and Janet Lanning of Remington. Preceding her in death with her parents and husband are a son, Jeffrey Jordan, 3 brothers, and 1 sister. Friends may call from 3 pm until the time of Funeral Service at 5 pm, Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston, with Pastor Tom Camp officiating. Private family burial at a later date.
