Donna Lee Christopher, 81, of Wolcott, died at 11:22 am, Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus, Lafayette after a long fight with Alzheimers. She was born in Wolcott on October 12, 1932 to the late Henry A. and Jessie (Allen) Boze. She was a 1950 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School. Donna married the love of her life, LeRoy J. Christopher on May 3, 1952 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Remington. For a year Donna ran the Quincey Stand in Wolcott, which she said had the best cheeseburgers and milk shakes. In 1969, Donna became a substitute carrier for a rural postal route in Wolcott, and in 1977 she was promoted to a full time carrier position. She retired in 1992 after serving 23 years in civil service. She was a member of the Young at Heart Club and the Wolcott Progressive Club. Donna's life was dedicated to her family and especially to her grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook, loved flowers, and was a loyal listener to K105 Country Radio. Independence Day was a big deal in the Christopher household, they would have backyard family cookouts and campouts with tents placed all over the yard. However, Fourth of July was not complete without the family attending the Wolcott 4th of July Festival, which they attended every year. Donna is survived by her 4 children, Susan Gauger (husband: Steve) of West Lafayette, Steve Christopher (wife: Leslie) of Wolcott, Scott Christopher (wife: Sherin) of Carmel, and Stu Christopher of Lafayette; 6 sisters, Norma Beard (husband: Richard) of West Lafayette, Paula Graden (husband: Barry) of Kendallville, Trish Logan of Indianapolis, Gloria Klutzke (husband: Steve) of Lafayette, Jody Watson (husband: John) of Indianapolis, and Janet Boze of Indianapolis; 2 brothers, Dennis Boze (wife: Pat) of Mississippi and John Dux of Carmel, 6 grandchildren, Christopher, Casey, Erin, Nathan, Steve Jr., and Jennifer; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Robert Christopher (wife: Susan) of Indianapolis; and a sister-in-law, Martha Viney of Yeoman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry A. and Jessie (Allen) Boze; her husband, LeRoy Christopher; 2 sisters, Geneva Coffman, and infant sister Barbara Boze; a brother, Ned Boze; and a great-grandchild, Sophia. Friends may call from 10 am until time of service at 12 pm, Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Foster-Clapper Funeral Home in Wolcott with Mr. Rex Shipplett officiating.
