Margaret Mary Schilling, 90, of Lafayette passed away at 12:08 a.m. Sunday, March 30, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital of Lafayette. She was born March 27, 1924 in Lafayette to the late August and Bernadine (Snelting) Hoefer. She was a 1942 graduate of St. Francis High School of Lafayette. Her marriage was to Fred F. Schilling on March 24, 1945 in St. Boniface Catholic Church. He died February 2, 2007. Margaret was a homemaker and helped with their business, North End Grocery, which they sold in the early 70's. She also worked for Lafayette Bank & Trust for 15 years before retiring in 1989. She was a long time member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the church Alter and Rosary Society. She enjoyed playing bid euchre, working number puzzles and traveling. Surviving are five children, Janice Schilling of Denver, Colorado, Karen Sue Klinkhamer (husband: Harold) of West Lafayette, Mike Schilling (wife: Colleen) of Lafayette, Richard Schilling (wife: Tammy) of Indianapolis and Andrea Batz (husband: John) of Portland, Oregon. Margaret loved spending time with her family, especially her 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are three brothers and two sisters. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral mass at 12 p.m. (noon) Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Lafayette; Fr. Dan Gartland to officiate. Interment to follow in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Lafayette. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
