Mary E. Wilkerson, 75, of Rensselaer, passed away at 5:45 pm, Friday, February 28, 2014 at Oak Grove Christian Retirement in DeMotte, Indiana. She was born on February 26, 1939 in Rensselaer to the late James and Hulda (Hoffman) Agnew and was a graduate of Rensselaer High School. Her marriage was to Robert Wilkerson Sr.on September 7, 1955. He preceded her in death on October 25, 2003. Also preceded in death, one son, Robert Wilkerson Jr. on November 18, 1973. Mary had lived in Rensselaer for most of her life. She was a charter member of the Tri County Bible Church and was past president of the Rensselaer School Board. Mary enjoyed genealogy, reading, yard work and spending time with her family. Surviving are her two sons, Jim Wilkerson (wife: Donna) of Rensselaer, Rich Wilkerson (Wife: Andrea) of Florida; a daughter; Debra Hendress (husband: Kevin) of Rensselaer and three sisters; Margret Agnew of Rensselaer, Martha Klauer of Hebron and Marjory Edlen of Galesburg, Illinois. Mary loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Kevin Hendress Jr. (wife: Liz), Charity Hendress, Candice Kuck (husband: Chad) and James Wilkerson and 3 great-grandsons. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. (CST) for visitation and a Memorial service will be held at 6 pm at Tri-County Bible Church (5856 West 1050 South, Rensselaer, IN), Sunday, March 9, 2014; with Pastor Andy Overly to officiate. Private family interment will take place in Milroy Cemetery earlier in the week. Memorials may be made to the Jasper County Hospital - Oncology Unit.
