Dorothy Faye Rowe, 88, of Remington, passed away at 12:15 am, February 22, 2014 at St. Anthony's Health Care of Lafayette. She was born on May 3, 1925 in Rural Benton County to Troy M. and Grace E. (Alberts) Goad and graduated from Remington High School. Her marriage was to Orville Rowe in 1947 and he preceded her in death on December 30, 1989. She resided in Remington for most of her life and was living there independently until she suffered a stroke on December 13, 2013. She was a very proud member of the Remington United Methodist Church and usually wouldn't schedule anything on Mondays after she became a member of the team who counted the weekly church collection. Dorothy was a fantastic cook and had worked in the kitchen of many local establishments. She would frequently bake pies for various functions and events. It was not uncommon for her to receive requests from individuals to bake pies for a particular occasion or event, which she would do willingly, without asking for anything in return. She prided herself on the cleanliness and neatness of her home. She loved to sit and crochet when time permitted. The crochet basket with all of the necessary needles and yarn could always be found beside her favorite chair. She would crochet afghans for babies and others, many of which still reside in a number of homes. In her spare time, she could always be found working the daily crossword puzzle in the newspaper. She could complete these puzzle with ease in record time. She is survived by her three children, Randall L. Rowe (wife: Cathy) of Noblesville, Sheryl Collins (husband: Oscar) of Remington, and Sheila Best (husband: Charles) of Florida. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, whom she cherished and loved spending time with. Preceding her in death with her parents and husband is a sister, Doris Jean Scharlach. Friends may call from 4-7 pm (EST), Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at the Remington United Methodist Church. Funeral Service will be there at 11 am (EST), Thursday, February 27, 2014 with Rev. Mary vanWijk officiating. Interment to follow in the Memory Gardens of Rensselaer. Memorials may be made to the Remington United Methodist Church.
