Susan E. Dawson, 44, of Brookston, passed away after a two year battle with brain cancer on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 8 p.m. She was born October 21, 1969 in Lafayette to the Claude and Patricia L. (White) Harshman and was a 1988 graduate of Harrison High School. She worked for twenty years for Lafayette Venetian Blind until her illness forced her to stop. Her marriage was to John Dawson on May 11, 1996 in Lafayette. Susan loved playing softball and more than anything, loved her daughter Mary. She enjoyed watching Mary's success on the softball field and was her best friend. Susan also liked Pepsi, the Indianapolis Colts, Purdue Women's Basketball, reading and playing cards. Surviving with her daughter Mary are Susan's mother, Patty Harshman; a sister, Nancy Donoho (Husband: Jack) of West Lafayette and two brothers, Patrick Harshman (Companion: Joyce) of West Lafayette and Steven Harshman (Companion: Donna Snapp) of Battle Ground. Preceding her in death is her father, Claude Harshman. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston; Pastor Kevin A. Bowers to officiate. Interment to follow in Battle Ground Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Susan E. Dawson Memorial Fund to be used for Mary's good as needed. .
