Jason Lee "Hoppy" Hopkins, 36, of Goodland, died at 1:23 am, Thursday, September 26, 2013, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born October 26, 1976 in Jasper County to James Hopkins and Cindy (Speed) Shedrow. He attended South Newton High School and was currently studying Mortuary Science at Ivy Tech in Indianapolis. He enjoyed being outdoors, hiking at Turkey Run, shooting guns, fishing, and cherished spending time with his family. He is survived by his parents, James Hopkins of Oregon, and Cindy Shedrow (husband: Gene) of Goodland; two daughters, Destiny Hopkins of Goodland, and Arissa Hopkins of Lafayette; fiancé, Kari Jean Mitchell of Goodland; sisters, Candice Krug (husband: Jason), and Brittnee Swan (husband: Mitch), both of Goodland; and a half-sister, Tera Hopkins of Oregon. He is also survived by his grandparents, James and Velma Speed, and Jerry and Carol Wilson, all of Brook, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 3-7 pm (CST), Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home in Kentland. Funeral Service there at 11 am (CST), Monday, September 30, 2013 with Rev. Melvin Fenton officiating. Interment to follow in Fairlawn Cemetery, Kentland. Memorials may be made to the Jason Lee Hopkins Memorial Fund.
