James Allen Bone, 74, of Brookston, passed away at 11:39 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at IU Health Arnett Hospital of Lafayette. He was born November 19, 1938 in Lafayette to the late Sidney Jackson and Carrie Ann (Wright) Bone. He attended Battle Ground High School. His marriage was to Beulah Jean Dyer on September 3, 1960 in Battle Ground. She preceded him in death on October 6, 2005. James retired from TRW, formerly Ross Gear, in 1999 after working as a forklift driver there for 45 years. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union #9753. He was an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt Sr. He enjoyed participating in sprint car/open wheel races, going to the river and watching bull riding, Pawn Stars and American Pickers, but most importantly he loved being with his family and friends. Surviving are three children; Cathy Clevinger (husband: Greg) of Chalmers, Kelley Whitaker (husband: Ron) of West Lafayette and Shawn Bone of Brookston, two sisters, Ruth Wells of Terre Haute and Dorothy Hutson of Brookston, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bone of Fort Wayne, five grandchildren, Joseph and Robert Lane of Plainfield, Brandi Peart (husband: David) of Wolcott, Madison Cornell and Zane Coy, and one great-grandchild, Corben Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, Mark Bone, a brother, Everett Bone Sr. and an infant brother. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12:00 p.m. (noon) Friday, March 8, 2013 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston with Pastor Joe Hornick officiating; interment to follow at Brookston Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
