Roger L. Wood, 62, of Monticello, passed away unexpectedly at 8:48 a.m., Saturday, February 23rd, 2013 at White County Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born June 30, 1950, in Lafayette, Ind. to the late Mayford and Loraine (Bartley) Wood. He was a 1968 graduate of Frontier High School. His marriage was to Brenda (Linback) Wood on August 16, 1969, in Brookston. She survives. Roger grew up in Brookston and was residing in Monticello at the time of his death. He was a very strong Christian, being a member of the Elmwood Church of Christ. For over 43 years, Roger worked in child care. He was in administration for three childrens' homes; Shults-Lewis (Valparaiso, Indiana), Potter Children's Home (Bowling Green, Kentucky) where he was Director and Financial Administrator, and Hope Harbor, Inc. (Claremore, Oklahoma). He enjoyed playing golf, playing his guitar, and reading. The Woods were also proud foster parents of over 100 kids throughout the years. Surviving Roger are wife, Brenda (Linback) Wood; siblings, Cathy Wood of Brookston and Larry Wood of Chalmers; children, Dawn Darnell (husband: Richard) of Louisville, KY, Robin Wood of Monticello, Derek Wood of Louisville, KY, Sarah Barnes (husband: Jeff) of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Tammy Webb (husband: Kurt) of Mishawaka, Indiana. Roger loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren: Autumn, Emily, Khalil, Sean and Seth, Darin, Lance, Emma, and Taycen. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013, at the Elmwood Church of Christ (2501 Elmwood Ave ), Minister Gilbert Kerrigan to officiate. Memorials may be made to the Foundation Christian Academy of Bowling Green, Ky, or any of Roger's associated childrens' homes.
