Elizabeth "Betty" P. Christopher, 82, of Brookston, passed away at 7:44 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012 surrounded by her family at St. Elizabeth East of Lafayette. She was born December 1, 1929 in Lafayette to the late John and Eva Jansen. She graduated from Monitor High School. Her marriage was to H. Wayne Christopher on September 20, 1958 at St. Boniface Catholic Church of Lafayette. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2003. Betty was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and was an amazing mother, grandmother, homemaker and caregiver. She enjoyed playing cards, singing and most importantly being with her family. Surviving is a daughter; Lori Heath (husband: Mike) of Battle Ground, two sons; Steve Christopher (wife: Shelley Smith) of Brookston and Phil Christopher (wife: Mindy Preston) of Chalmers and eight grandchildren; Ashley, Jack, Daisy, Dylan, Chad, Chelsey, Corey and Courtney. She was preceded in death by a daughter; Lisa Christopher and two sisters; Marie McGriff and Bernie Broe. A rosary service will be held at 3:45 p.m., prior to visitation from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. A funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at St. Boniface Catholic Church of Lafayette with Father Jeff Martin officiating. Interment to follow at Brookston Cemetery. Betty was always a caregiver, putting others needs before her own. She simply believed in people. Therefore, the family requests in lieu of flowers and donations, if you feel inspired, please "pay it forward". Do something for someone, a simple act of kindness, no matter how small, and when you do, please remember Betty.
