Clio "Dolores" Walkup, 86, of Kentland, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 3:00 a.m. in her residence. She was born August 8, 1925 in Kentland, Indiana to the late Maynard and Ruby (Denney) Whaley. In 1943 she graduated from Brook High School and then attended Indiana Business College. Dolores had enlisted in WAVES during World War II but the war ended before she had an opportunity to serve. Her marriage was to Richard Walkup on November 27, 1952 in Kentland. He survives. She and her husband lived in Attica for 33 years prior to moving back to Kentland in 1991. Mrs. Walkup was a secretary / book keeper for Waymire Incorporated, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary post 2596 in Attica. Surviving with her husband is a daughter, Pamela Snedeker (husband: Robert) of Snyder, TX; a son, Rick Walkup (wife: JoBeth) of Effingham, IL and a brother, Duane Whaley of Kentland. Dolores loved spending time with her family, especially her 5 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death with her parents is a sister, Mercila Burton and a brother, Lawrence Whaley. Private family services will be held at a later date.
