Norma Jean Burks, 77, formerly of Kentland, died Monday, July 25, 2011 at her daughter's residence in Springfield, Tennessee. She was born March 12, 1934 in Indiana to the late Ennis and Inez (Donlinger) Hall. Her marriage was to Russell Raymond Burks, Sr. He preceded her in death. She retired from Kentland Telephone Company where she worked as a switchboard operator, and she was a member of Kentland First Baptist Church. Surviving is a son, Russell Raymond Burks, Jr. (wife: Brenda) of Portland, TN, and three daughters, Sherry Fuqua (husband: Wayne) of Springfield, TN, Kathy Lanie (husband: Leon) of Lafayette, and Denise Hall of White House, TN. Also surviving are six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Preceding her in death with her husband and parents is a son, Dennis Ray Burks and 4 brothers. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. (CDT) Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland. Services will be held there at 11 a.m. (CDT) Thursday, July 28, 2011. Interment to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens of West Lafayette. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
