John Phillip Letson, 49, of Remington, formerly of Lafayette, died unexpectedly of natural causes, Friday, February 4, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Central in Lafayette. He was born July 27, 1961 in Lafayette to the late Paul Irlon and Betty Frances (Benge) Letson and was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School. He was an honorably discharged United States Army Veteran. His marriage was to Tina Droulos in Lafayette in 1983. They later divorced. Mr. Letson worked at Remington Freight Lines and also was Sales Manager at McCord Tire in Lafayette for many years. He loved rebuilding Trans Am's and was an avid New England Patriot's fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR. Surviving are his sons, John Paul Letson (Fiancé: Kari) of Goodland, Dusty Phillip Letson of Remington, Jason Kerkhoff of Wolcott and Stephen Kerkhoff of Crawfordsville; two sisters, Pamela Woodard of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Jackie Letson of Coatesville, IN and his brother, Tim Farner of Veedersburg, IN. John is also survived by his fiancé, Tammitha Trouten and her two sons, Tyler Trouten and Jeremy Maggart. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Camden, Tanner and Drake. Preceding him in death with his parents is a brother, Ivan Lee Letson and his brother-in-law, Sam Woodard. Friends may call from 4 p.m. (EST) until the time of service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home in Remington; Pastor Joe Park to officiate. John's huge heart and love for others helped him brighten the day of everyone around, especially those at the George Ade Nursing Home in Brook where he volunteered. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the John Letson Memorial Fund.
