Joseph A. Winters, 70, of Brookston, died at 7:39 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Rosewalk Village in Lafayette, Indiana. He was born April 2, 1940 in Lafayette to the late Fred and Mary Johnson Winters. He graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend. His marriage was to Karen Lyons on March 14, 1970 in Onarga, Illinois. She survives. He was a member a Grace Lutheran Church in Lafayette, and was a former member of St. James Lutheran Church also in Lafayette. Mr. Winters retired from Alcoa after working there for 44 years. He enjoyed working on model airplanes, traveling, and was an avid Notre Dame football fan. Surviving with his wife are two children, Patty Keller (husband: Larry) of Lafayette and David Winters (wife: Amalia) of Las Vegas, NV. Joseph loved spending time with his family, and cherished his four grandchildren, Alex, Michael, Candice and Cameron. He is preceded in death by 1 sister and 3 brothers. Friends may call from 12 p.m. (noon) until the time of service at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church in Lafayette with Pastor Ed Morrow officiating.
