Margery Cheek, 89, of Kentland died at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka , Illinois . She was born May 10, 1921 in Kentland to the late Herman and Mary (Rheude) Diedam. She graduated from Kentland High School . Her marriage was to Jesse Cheek on December 30, 1944 in Kentland and he preceded her in death on April 10, 2004 . Margery lived and farmed in the Sheldon, Illinois area before moving to Kentland in 1981. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church , and worked in the Newton County Clerk's Office from 1981 until her retirement in 1995. Mrs. Cheek was devoted to her family, enjoyed the Cubs, and was an excellent cook. Surviving is a daughter, Cathy E. Light (husband: Jeff) of Sheldon , Illinois , and two sisters, Rita Weiss (husband: Stuart) of Las Vegas , Nevada , and Alice Catron (husband: William) of Tampa , Florida . Also surviving is one grandson, Nathan Light (companion: Jessica Wright), and a sister-in-law Joanne Diedam of Kentland. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Dorothy Reifenrath, and three brothers, Raphael, John, and David Diedam. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. (CDT) Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Fairlawn Cemetery in Kentland. Memorial donations may be made in Margery's name to Iroquois Resident Home or Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
