Marian Nell Franklin, 97, of Kentland, died at 7:39 p.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at George Ade Memorial Health Care in Brook, Indiana. She was born July 15, 1913 near Otterbein, Indiana to the late James and Ella Thompson North. She graduated from Otterbein High School, and attended Central Normal College. Her marriage was to Jay W. Franklin on December 14, 1935 in Watseka, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1998 . She lived in Kentland most of her life as well as Green Hill, Indiana and Williamsport, Indiana. She was a member of Covenant Federated Church of Kentland, and she worked as Deputy Auditor in Warren County, and Deputy Clerk and Assistant Librarian in Kentland. Surviving are five children, Dave Franklin (wife: Susan) of San Diego, CA, Becky Staton (husband: Jim), Wib Franklin, Martha Small-Stum (husband: Brandt Stum) and Wayne Franklin all of Kentland. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren; John Franklin, Christine Hoy, Stephanie Broderick, Mike Staton, Allison, Derek and Jonathan Small, and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death with her parents and husband are a sister, Mildred Cottrell, a brother, Bud North, a grandson, Dan Staton, and a great-grandson, Dominic Gonzaba Broderick. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. CDT Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at Covenant Federated Church in Kentland with Rev. Wayne Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at Davis Kochert Cemetery in Green Hill, Indiana. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Marian to Covenant Federated Church or American Cancer Society.
