Katherine F. "Katie" Maxwell, 89, of Remington, died at 6 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at St. Anthony Health Care, Lafayette, where she had resided the last 4 1/2 years. She was born Aug. 14, 1920, in Remington to the late Henry and Kate Wagner Shide and was a graduate of Remington High School. She married Paul Jordan Maxwell on Feb. 7, 1945, in Remington. He preceded her in death Jan. 31, 1982. Mrs. Maxwell was a tester for Schumacher Electric in Rensselaer for 30 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, traveling and was an avid baker of noodles and pies. Surviving are three daughters, Shari Millea of Winter Haven, Fla., Bettijo "Jody" Pounds (husband: Bill) of Yadkinville, N.C., and Terri Budde (husband: Dale) of Remington. Her six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren were a source of great joy to her. Also surviving is a nephew, Bill Moorhous of San Diego, CA. Preceding her in death were two sisters, Margaret Shide and Josephine Moorhous. Rosary service is 3:45 p.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington with visitation to follow from 4-8 p.m. Funeral Mass, 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Remington. Fr. Thomas Fox and Fr. Dennis Faker to concelebrate. Interment at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Remington.
