Ruth E. Vollmer, 90, of West Lafayette, formerly of Wolcott, died at 7:55 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in Cumberland Pointe, West Lafayette. Born on August 4, 1918 in Wolcott, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lena (Reprogle) Davis. She attended Wolcott High School. On July 13, 1940 she married Kenneth Wolf. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1944. She then married Elmer Vollmer on May 2, 1947 in Monticello. He preceded her in death on February 13, 1996. Ruth was a homemaker. Always a proper lady, she enjoyed shopping, playing cards, gatherings with friends, dancing, and watching the Food Channel. She was a member of the Bicycle Club and attended Remington United Methodist Church. Surviving are her children, Sue Ann Vollmer of Lafayette, Larry Vollmer (wife: Melissa) of Brookston, and Connie Jean LeBeau (husband: Larry) of North Port, Florida; and a sister, Mary Snyder of Reynolds. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren. Preceding her in death are 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Friends may call from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston with services at 1 p.m. Rev. Bob Fish to officiate. Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery, Monticello.
