Betty Louise McDonald, 77, of Lafayette, formerly of Monon, died at 12:12 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2008 at St. Anthony Health Care. She was diagnosed in January with ovarian cancer and had been in failing health since March. She was born October 19, 1930 in White County to the late Friedyl and Eva (Creel) Nelson. She was a 1948 graduate of Monon High School. She married James E. McDonald on April 18, 1954. He died in January 1989. Mrs. McDonald was a homemaker. Surviving are her two sons, Doug (wife: Mary) of Newburgh, Indiana and Brian (wife: Julie) of Lafayette. Betty enjoyed lunch with her friends, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren, Sean and Sara. She also enjoyed traveling abroad, a childhood dream. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 2, 2008 in Clapper Family Funeral Home, Monon. Interment to follow in Osboren Cemetery. Preceding her in death with her parents and husband is an infant son, Michael. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society.
