Marilyn Atkinson, 81, formerly of Remington, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Millers Merry Manor of Chesterfield. She was born December 3, 1938 in Miami County to the late Ralph D. and Marylee (Boswell) Clingaman.

Her marriage was to Ralph R. “Dick” Atkinson on June 13, 1959. Dick preceded her in death on February 10, 2015. Marilyn and Dick had lived in the Kentland community for 20 years and Remington community for 15. She had spent the last 6 years in Anderson.

Marilyn was a member of the Remington United Methodist Church and Tri Kappa Sorority. She was a school nurse at South Newton School Corporation until her retirement after 30 plus years. Marilyn enjoyed playing cards with friends including Bridge and Hand & Foot. She also talented at cross stich and enjoyed her time with the retired South Newton stitchers. Most of all, Marilyn cherished time spent with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Kevin (Tonya) Atkinson of Anderson, IN, John (Sharon) Atkinson of Madison, IN, and Shari (Angie) Howell of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother, Ric Clingaman of Niles, MI. Also surviving are her 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death along with her husband and parents, is a brother, Ronald Clingaman.

Friends may call from 10 AM (EST) until the time of Funeral Service 11 AM (EST) Monday, June 1, 2020 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Remington. Interment to follow in Remington Cemetery.
