Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home - Remington

Sue Timmons

( December 20, 1939 - December 14, 2020 )

Sue Timmons, 80, of Remington, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 at IU Health University Hospital of Indianapolis. She was born December 20, 1939 in Rensselaer to the late Ross and Frances (Shide) Bufkin. Sue was a 1957 graduate of Rensselaer High School.

Her marriage was to Marshall “Bink” Timmons on August 6, 1962 in Beardstown, IL. Bink passed away on August 11, 1995.

Sue worked as a registered nurse for Jasper County Hospital of Rensselaer in the emergency department. She retired in 2012. Sue was a nurse for almost 50 years. Her career started as a LPN. In the early 70’s, she worked four years at Riley Hospital in the Children’s cancer ward. Most of her years were spent at Jasper County Hospital in the Emergency Room where she built lifelong friendships who remained with her until the end. At the age of 55 she went back to school, earning her Bachelor of Science Degree from the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, and humbly earning her RN. She mentored many. If she scolded you and told you like it was, it’s because she saw your potential and expected the very best from you. She loved the banter with her co-workers and told her kids many stories. Please know to ALL at Jasper County Hospital who worked with Sue, she held you fondly in her heart. She was a damn fine nurse indeed.

In her spare time, Sue enjoyed reading, playing Tetris on her Gameboy, and loved keeping in touch with family and friends via Facebook.

She is survived by her children, Mike (Cindy) Timmons of Corydon, Melissa (Dale Garrett) Timmons of Remington, Kyla (Angela) Timmons of Valparaiso, and Kyra (John) Short of Frankfort. Grandchildren, Shawn (Erin) Garrett, Kaitlin (Andrew) Pearson, Kelsey (Devon) Pearson, Grant Timmons, Melody Muffoletto, Jason Yates, Shawn Yates, and several much-loved great-grandchildren. Siblings, Judy (Fred) Lanoue, Janet (Don) Hensler, and John (Terry) Bufkin. Also surviving are many beloved nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death along with her husband and parents are a brother, Jerald Bufkin and granddaughter, Heather.

Lastly, and most importantly – to know Sue was to know her mental, emotional and physical strength. She was a rock. A warrior. She was stubborn and she loved her family. For Sue to stop fighting tells us all how tired she was. Seeing her family renewed her strength and because of circumstances beyond control, she went for an eternity with so little family and said ‘no more’. She is just an incredible example of mental strength that we have admired and inherited from her. We have passed that on to our kids, and grandkids and for generations to come. Her calmness in sickness and adversity, and her unbelievable mental strength is her legacy. We love you, Mom.
