Margaret L. Oilar, 100, of Chalmers, passed away at 10:17 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Milner Healthcare in Rossville.

  She was born February 9, 1921 in Clinton, Tennessee to the late Burt and Carrie (Ridenour) Scruggs.

  Her marriage was to Warren H. “Jack” Oilar on January 3, 1940 in Lafayette; he preceded her in death on June 12, 2003.

  Margaret owned and operated a beauty shop out of her home in Chalmers from 1961 until 1987.  Afterwards, she worked for 5 years at Cares Beauty Shop, with Karen Winters, until retiring in 1992.

  Margaret enjoyed playing Euchre and BINGO and was an avid Purdue Basketball fan.

  Surviving is a son, Jack R. Oilar (wife: Sharon) of Rossville, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

  Preceding her in death with her parents is two daughters, Joyce Guard and Janet Hall and two brothers, Edgar and Roy Scruggs.

  Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 12 p.m. (noon) Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston.  Interment to follow in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Cemetery, West Lafayette.

  Memorials may be given in her name to Milner Healthcare of Rossville for the great care they provided to Margaret during her stay.
