Bradley J.S. Smith, 31, of Lafayette, passed away unexpectedly at 4:26 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Franciscan St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette. 

  He was born October 30, 1989 in Lafayette and was a 2009 graduate of McCutcheon High School.

  Brad worked in factory jobs and as a mechanic.  He had a passion for working on cars and driving trucks.  He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and going mudding. 

  Brad enjoyed music, tattoos, and his Nike Air Max shoes.  He collected cross necklaces and was a huge Batman fan.  A kid at heart, Brad loved his Nerf gun wars with his nieces and nephews. 

  The most important person to Brad was his beautiful daughter, Olivia Marie Smith; she was his world. 

  Surviving with Olivia is his father, Richard H. Smith Jr. of Earl Park; mother, Kerri L. Kinsey of Kokomo; brothers, Nick R. Smith (wife: Erica) of West Lafayette and Mike “Big Mike” Smith (wife: Dana) of Brazil, IN, and Isaac E. Smith of Earl Park; a sister, Samantha R. Grant (husband: Vince) of Reynolds; his grandmother, Carol Phillips; his grandfather, John W. Kinsey (wife: Joyce); a special great-aunt, Linda Gillen.  Brad loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews, Shayna, Saraya, Gracie, Avah, Ethan, Carson and Jackson.  Also surviving are numerous aunts and uncles. 

  Preceding him in death is his grandfather, Stephen R. Phillips; a great-grandfather, George “Woody” Kinsey and a great-aunt, Ruth Lewis. 

  Brad will be remembered with a visitation from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston; please dress casual in honor of Brad. 

  In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Bradley Smith Memorial Fund to be used for a good cause for his daughter Olivia.
