Verna J. Furrer, 92, passed away at 2:04 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2021 at St. Mary Healthcare Center of Lafayette.

  She was born May 31, 1929 in Chalmers, Indiana to the late Sam and Clara (Frieden) Furrer.

  Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Sheryl (Floyd) Richert, Patti (Tom) Baugess, Nancy (Mike) Scott, Allen (Patty) Furrer and Rex (Jill) Furrer.  Verna is also survived by numerous great and great-great-nieces and nephews and many cousins.

  Preceding her in death with her parents is a brother, John Furrer (wife: Marcille) and a sister, Arlene Wood (husband: Winsford).

  Memorials may be made to the Fowler Theatre or the St. Ann’s Soup Kitchen in Lafayette.

  A memorial service to celebrate Verna’s life will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2021 at the Wolcott Apostolic Christian Church; ministers of the church to officiate.
