Rick Harper, 65, of Remington, IN passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at Franciscan Health Rensselaer.   He was the son of Rich and Helen Harper, born on January 9, 1956 in Harrison, Ohio.  The family moved to Remington in 1959 where he lived his life.    He married Barb (Skelton) on April 11, 1981 at the Wolcott Christian Church.  They recently celebrated their 40^th anniversary.    Together they raised two daughters Katie and Rachel.  He graduated from Tri-County High School in 1974.  He worked at Dekalb Seed for a number of years.   He then continued to farm with several local farmers.

Rick loved to cook and enjoyed reading. He was a loyal fan of NASCAR, until TV ruined it, as he would say.  A true Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan.  Rick was a life long farmer who could always tell you how much rain we got. He was an avid gardener, who enjoyed sitting around the campfire. Rick loved being a Grandpa and he will be missed by many.

Survivors include his wife Barb, daughters, Katie and Rachel Harper, grandchildren Cailey and Eli Jones, Sisters, Cindy (Steve) Goodwin and Donna (Angie) Harper. A niece, Meghan (Kyle) Goranson and nephew Josh (Brittany) Harper.

Every farmer puts his land to rest for the winter.  On springs horizon it is brought back to life. God has put this farmer to rest, and with a spring in his step, he walks the horizon to a new life.  A celebration of Rick’s life we be held at a later date.
