Marvin L. Peterson Sr., 77, of Kentland, passed away on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital of Watseka, Illinois.  

He was born May 1, 1944 in Fingal, North Dakota to the late Carl and Christine (Solie) Peterson. Marvin was a graduate of Nome High School, North Dakota. His marriage was to Alma Jones on June 14, 1971. Alma preceded him in death on September 20, 2006. 

Marvin proudly served in the United States Army from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1970. He worked several years at Super Crost Seed of Kentland until its closing and DuPont of Remington. Following his retirement, Marvin enjoyed making homemade clocks, spending time with family and friends, and loved making people laugh and smile.  

Surviving are his three children, Dawn Carlson of Donovan, IL, Shannon (husband: Brad) Rush of Hoopeston, IL, and Marvin Peterson Jr. of Kentland. Siblings, Olga (husband: Al) Pinke, Jean (husband: Jerome) Ussatis, Ronald (wife: Cleo) Peterson all of North Dakota, and Sharon (husband: Jake) Bierley of Kentland. Grandchildren, Erritt, Misty, Christy, Brock, Erika, Ashlynne, Trevor (Jacy), and Tyler; 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.  

Preceding him in death along with his wife and parents are a grandson, Brian Carlson Jr.; siblings, Clarice Peterson, Walter Peterson, Orvis Peterson, James Peterson, Helen Lemna, Alice Peterson, and Merlin Peterson. 

Friends may call from 10 AM (CST) until the time of Funeral Service 12 PM (CST) Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Stitz-Clapper Funeral Home of Kentland. Interment to follow in Iroquois Memorial Park Cemetery of Watseka, IL.
