Marvin Alberts

( April 10, 1929 - November 19, 2021 )

In the early morning hours of November 19, Marvin Alberts, age 92, went peacefully to be with the Lord.  Born on April 10, 1929, he was the youngest of two sons born to Herman and Leila (Lilves) Alberts, who preceded him in death. His brother, Alvin Alberts also preceded him in death. Marvin graduated from Remington High School in 1947. In 1949, Marvin married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Moehring, to whom he was married for 44 years prior to her death in 1993. Together they had four children, Arnetta (David) Berenda of West Lafayette, Dennis Alberts of Kentland, Thomas (Sheryl) Alberts of Richmond and Suzy (Paul Bauer) Alberts of Warren, Michigan.  In 1999, Marvin married the late Peggy Robinette of Pikeville, Kentucky.

A lifelong resident of Remington, Marvin was a farmer and raised livestock on the family farm south of Remington.  He was very passionate about his herd of Angus cattle and raising hogs.  Under his guidance, his four children and several grandchildren had successful 4-H careers.  Marvin served on the Jasper County Fair Association board, and he and Barbara ran the ticket booth for events held at the grandstands during the fair each summer.  He also worked for over 10 years at Rose Acre Farms as a night watchman.  Marvin and his second wife, Peggy, were active members of Victorious Life Assembly of God Church.

In addition to his children, Marvin is survived by eight grandchildren, Stacy Hansen, Samantha Berenda, Brad Berenda, Brian Berenda, Shelli Stine, Chris Alberts, Heather Zetterberg and Erin Alberts Maglinte, and five bonus grandchildren, John Shriner, Jessica Shriner, Melissa Valdis, Shannon Bauer and Jennifer Shriner-Brown, who preceded him in death. He also had seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
