ZACHARY BENJAMIN BREWER

Whitestown, Indiana- Zachary Benjamin Brewer, 46, the beloved son of Jason and Susan Brewer received his angel wings on December 9, 2021 due to complications from Alzheimer’s.

Zac was born April 21st, 1975 and raised in the Lafayette area.  From an early age, Zac began receiving services through Wabash Center that would help him accomplish his many life goals.  Zac proudly served as the Poster Child for Tippecanoe County March of Dimes, debuting on TV on the Jerry Lewis telethon.  He then attended Battle Ground Elementary, Battle Ground Middle School, and Harrison High School.  He proudly graduated in 1994.   Zac thoroughly enjoyed his time at Harrison being a library aide, a manager for the basketball team, a supporter of all of Harrison sports, participating in his classes, and interacting with the many teachers who helped him achieve his educational goals.

After Harrison, Zac was blessed to find two people who decided to give him a chance in the workforce.  Zac would spend the next 20 years working with Barb Strueh at Purdue University’s Krannert School of Management in the morning and then with Doug Brown at Lafayette Masonry during the afternoon.  The Brewer family would like to thank all of Zac’s coworkers and the entire Brown family for their support and encouragement to help Zac develop his strong work habits.

Zac was proud to live independently. He maintained his apartment and personal life without much assistance from his family.  He did enjoy his time with his friend and roommate Bill Willey (deceased). The two of them lived life with enthusiasm and joy.  The family would like to thank the ACCESS bus service for fostering Zac’s independence.

When Zac was 8, he started Special Olympics.  He bowled, golfed, and played bocce ball.  Zac especially enjoyed time with his golfing buddy Andy.  He always looked forward to the State Games in Terre Haute, where he enjoyed competing, winning medals, and making many friends along the way.

Zac was a happy individual who enjoyed teasing his friends.  He loved professional wrestling, watching sports, working on his family tree, and attending services at Dayton United Methodist Church.  He far exceeded society’s expectations for a person with his limitations.  He was a blessing to his family.

Zac is survived by his parents, his sister Mary, his niece Malia and many uncles, aunts, and cousins across the country.

The family would like to thank The Restoracy at Whitestown, and especially the loving staff in the memory care unit.  Added thanks to the caring hospice professionals from the Paradigm Agency for their guidance and support through the final stages of Zac’s life.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday December 20th at 7pm at Dayton United Methodist Church.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Zac’s name to Dayton United Methodist Church, 7201 Wesleyan Dr, Dayton, IN  47941.

Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home in Brookston, Indiana, will handle arrangements.  Their website at www.clapperfuneralservices.com  can be used for condolences and memories of Zac.
