Biographical Information: A beloved Mother and Grandmother, Virginia (Jiggs) was a 1941 graduate of Idaville High School, where she was a Green Streak Cheerleader. She married her high school sweetheart, Ed Godlove, on April 24, 1942. Together they attended and became members of the Idaville First Church of God. Jiggs lived a life full of experience and family. During WWII, she and a group of local women drove daily to the Kingsbury Munitions Plant in Kingsbury, Indiana (outside of LaPorte) to support the men at war through making munitions. Early in her marriage, she and husband Ed were blessed with two sons, Gary and Mike. Although her soul mate Ed, passed away far too early in 1951 due to illness, she dedicated her life to raising her boys. Through the blessings of God, Jiggs was asked to care for a newborn boy, Doug Phelps, who became her third son. Later in life she was blessed with four special grandchildren. Jiggs was a US postal clerk, retiring at the age of 76 in 1999, but she filled her spare time in her garden growing the fruits of her labor, including her favorite, strawberries. In the winter months she spent her time listening to books on tape, baking, sewing and crocheting. Her true winter love, however, was sledding with her grandchildren. Jiggs valued hard work and always kept a focus on serving the Lord God in all of her work. Her kind spirit will be remembered by all who loved her.
