Anthony Wayne “Tony” Wall, 65, of Independence, formerly of Battle Ground, passed away at 2:56 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital of Indianapolis.

  Tony was born October 21, 1957, in Lafayette to the late Eventus and Ruby (Atwood) Wall and was one of 13 children.   He attended William Henry Harrison High School and earned his degree at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.

  Tony joined the United States Army in 1977 and was a Crew Chief on a UH1 “Huey” Helicopter during the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged in 1981.

  His marriage was to Thelma Hall in Battle Ground; they later divorced.

  Tony was a union drywaller working for Heidenreich Drywall out of Independence, Indiana.  Prior to that he was a machinist for many years for Round Grove Machine Shop in Battle Ground.

  Tony loved to read, cook, fish and hunt.  He was a big fan of John Wayne western movies.  Above all, Tony loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.

  Surviving is a son, Jake A. Wall (Samantha) of Otterbein, IN; three daughters, Amber L. Mead (Skyler) of South Hutchinson, KS, Bridget A. Goodnight (Craig) of Bluffton, IN and Ashley N. Wall of West Lafayette; and three sisters, Pattie McGinnis (Tom) of West Lafayette, Gay Sulfridge (Bud) of Battle Ground and Anita Johnson (Jimmie) of Croker, MO.  Also surviving are his grandchildren, Courtney, Remington, Breanne, Glenn, Hayden, Rhea, Levon, Leeland, Katy, Josie, Andy, Timmy, Ben, Mikey and Willy.  He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Blanche Wall.

  Preceding him in death with his parents are his siblings, Sue Richardson, Walter K. Wall, Jennie L. Stone, Beulah M. McClung, E. Ray Wall, Bobby E. Wall, James D. Wall, Donna F. Balser and David N. Wall.

  Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston; Rev. Dr. Lelan D. McReynolds to officiate. Interment to follow in Battle Ground Cemetery.
