Angela R. “Angie” Slyder, 59, of Brookston, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 17, 2023 at her home. She was born April 5, 1963 in Lafayette to the late Robert Tipton Mason and Ima Jean (Sweet) Mason. Angie was a graduate of Lafayette Jeff High school and attended nursing school in Louisville, KY.

Her first marriage was to Michael McKnight and they had two children, Nick and Jenny McKnight. Michael and Angie would later divorce. On July 10, 2004 she married Curtis Slyder and they have resided in Brookston since.

Angie worked as a certified LPN for several primary care physicians through out the area over the last many years. She enjoyed home decorating, camping, cooking, watching scary movies, and loved time spent with her family and friends.

Surviving along with her husband Curtis are her two children, Nick McKnight of Lafayette, and Jenny McKnight (fiancé: Matt Templin) of Mulberry. She loved her two grandchildren, Olivia Templin and Brooks McKnight. Angie is also survived by her siblings, Cathy Lendman, Bobbie Albertson, Jodie Townsend, and Mary Rich.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ima Jean Mason.

Friends may call from 2-4 PM (EDT) Friday, March 24, 2023 at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston. A Celebration of Life Service will follow visitation hours. The family requests casual attire.

In lieu of floral arrangements, memorial contributions may be made in Angela’s name to the Lupus Foundation of America or the American Heart Association.
