Doris J. Sigo, 92, of Brookston, formerly of Wolcott, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at St. Mary Healthcare Center of Lafayette. She was born January 4, 1931 in Wolcott to the late Francis and Emma (Davis) Stortz. She was a 1949 graduate of Remington High School.

Her marriage was to Ralph “Mose” Sigo on February 3, 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Remington. Mose preceded her in death on February 2, 1999.

Doris enjoyed dancing with the Miller Band, gardening, tending to her flowers, and loved time spent with her family and friends. She worked as a waitress at Woody’s and the Country Inn during high school. Remington Telephone Company as an operator, 15 years at Indiana Ribbon Factory of Wolcott as a machine operator, and retired in 2005 from Dwyer Instruments also of Wolcott.

She is survived by her children, Deb (Ron) Anker of West Lafayette, Rex (Yumi) Sigo of Williamsburg, VA, and Ned (Brenda) Sigo of Chalmers. Siblings, Verna Geyer of Francesville, Bob Stortz of Wolcott, and Harry (Velma) Stortz also of Wolcott. Doris is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 5 step-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death along with her husband and parents is a son, Kenny Sigo and sister, Marilyn Miller.

A private graveside service will be held in Wolcott Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Doris’ name to a charity of your choice.
